Elaine Guitar Van Loo

Elaine was born in the small northern town of Elliot Lake, and raised in Windsor, Ontario. She is a self-taught artist who at the early age of eight had already decided with great determination to make painting her lifetime career. Elaine began to freelance in 1979, and has subsequently had many successful solo exhibits.

Elaine has mastered an exclusive style in watercolors and charcoal. Her subject matter varies. She paints subjects that stimulate her sight, mind and soul. Her goal is not to make paintings photographic, but alive; showing the character her subjects possess. Most importantly, her goal is to create a stronger awareness and appreciation for all life. Each painting conveys a message. Her art encourages the viewer to see things that they have often overlooked and to experience and feel the "unique individuality of all life".

Through various auctions and raffles, Elaine's artwork has helped support hospitals and charities including the Canadian Red Cross, Humane Society and the Canadian Hearing Society.

Her limited edition reproduction prints can be found in private collections across Canada, the United States and as far away as Scotland, England and Australia.
